Skil 100 Front Shoe

The Skil 100 Front Shoe is a precision-machined replacement for one of the most difficult parts to replace on the legendary Skil 100 surfboard planer.

Although the Skil 100 has been out of production for decades, it remains one of the most sought-after planers among surfboard shapers. A broken front shoe can leave an otherwise functional planer unusable, making replacement parts increasingly important for keeping these machines in service.

This replacement front shoe was developed by Florian Saylor specifically to bring damaged Skil 100 planers back to life. The design went through more than 10 3D-printed prototypes to refine the geometry, fit, and function before being released for production.

Unlike the original machined cast part, this replacement is CNC machined from a solid block of 6061 aluminum. The complex geometry requires 5-axis CNC machining, producing a precision replacement designed to fit and function with the original Skil 100 planer.

The result is a modern replacement for a critical component of a planer that has played an important role in surfboard shaping for generations. The Skil 100 was discontinued decades ago, yet many professional and experienced shapers continue to maintain and use these machines today.
