MEKP Catalyst

MEKP Catalyst is a concentrated curing agent used to initiate the hardening process in polyester resins for surfboard lamination, sanding, and gloss applications. It is an essential additive for all polyester resin systems, controlling gel time, working time, and final cure strength.

Catalyst ratios should be adjusted based on ambient temperature and working conditions. Standard working conditions are approximately 70°F (21°C). In cooler temperatures, slightly more catalyst may be required to achieve proper cure time. In warmer conditions, slightly less catalyst should be used to prevent overly fast curing.

Recommended MEKP Amounts (Standard Conditions ~70°F / 21°C)

• Pint (16 oz resin) – 1/4 oz MEKP catalyst
• Quart (32 oz resin) – 1/2 oz MEKP catalyst
• Gallon (128 oz resin) – 2 oz MEKP catalyst

Important Usage Notes

MEKP is a powerful curing agent and must be measured accurately before mixing into resin. Always follow recommended safety procedures and avoid over-catalyzation, which can lead to excessive heat buildup and reduced working time.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and incompatible materials.
