This 2 oz E-Cloth surfboard fiberglass is primarily used as a cap or isolation layer when laminating specialty fabrics such as carbon, basalt, or flax. It helps create a protective barrier over these darker or textured materials, reducing the risk of sand-through and preventing weave or texture from showing in the final finish.

By adding a thin, uniform layer between the structural laminate and the outer finish, it helps preserve the clean appearance of high-performance composites during sanding and polishing. This is especially important when working with carbon or natural fiber reinforcements where visual consistency is critical.

It is also commonly used to cover graphics, logos, or inlays to ensure a smooth, uniform surface while maintaining a lightweight overall laminate schedule. Despite its light weight, it wets out cleanly with both epoxy and polyester resins, integrating easily into multi-material layups without adding noticeable bulk.
