Resin Research 2000 PH Ultra Epoxy Resin is an optically enhanced resin developed specifically for white surfboards. The PH formulation, nicknamed “Purple Haze,” gives the resin its distinctive violet-purple color, while the latest Ultra formulation adds an iridescent optical brightening effect designed to produce an exceptionally bright white finished board.
The optical brighteners work with Resin Research’s UV-stable epoxy technology to enhance the appearance of white foam and help maintain a clean, bright finish over time. Unlike a pigment or tint, the optical enhancement influences how the finished laminate interacts with light rather than adding visible purple color to the finished board.
When compared side by side, 2000 PH Ultra produces a bright white appearance, while 2000 CE Ultra produces a similarly bright white appearance with a subtle blue cast. PH Ultra is intended for builders looking for maximum optical brightening while maintaining a clean white appearance. So bright you might want to grab your sunglasses.
For white surfboards only. Because of the optical brightening package, 2000 PH Ultra is not recommended for resin colorwork, airbrushed color, wood laminations, carbon fiber, or any other application where the underlying color needs to remain unaffected. For these applications, use Resin Research 2000 Clear Epoxy Resin.
Developed by surfboard builder and epoxy pioneer Greg Loehr, Resin Research has been developing epoxy systems for surfboard construction for more than 40 years and is the most widely used epoxy resin system in the surfboard manufacturing industry.
