David Plane

The David Plane is a lightweight, durable hand plane designed for precision stringer work during surfboard shaping. Made in the Netherlands, its compact aluminum body is comfortable to grip and provides excellent control when bringing a wood stringer down flush with the surrounding foam.

Its small size makes it particularly useful for working along the stringer without unnecessarily removing the softer foam on either side. The simple, proven design has made the David Plane a popular hand tool for both hand-shaped and CNC-cut surfboards.

The David Plane uses a 4-sided replaceable blade, allowing the blade to be rotated to a fresh cutting edge as needed. Two 4-sided blades are included with the plane.

Applications

Ideal for trimming and leveling wood stringers during surfboard shaping, including finish work on hand-shaped and CNC-cut surfboard blanks.
